About this construction
Pattern & sewing notes
- The skirt block is cut into 4, 6 or 8 equal panels. On every seam a godet starts at the level you choose and opens outwards at 30° or 60°.
- With 4 panels the darts stay as on the block; with 6 or 8 panels each dart is moved into the seam between the panels.
- The godet edge is as long as the straight seam below the start point and is shaped slightly convex; the hem meets it at 90°. Notches mark the hip line, the godet start and the half-way point.
- The zipper can be at the centre back or in the left side seam (2 cm allowance there). A waistband can be added. For satin or other fabrics that hang on the bias, consider adding 6 cm to the hip circumference.
